9. Refrain from dirty and insolent
remarks
The spectators, at all sports sites including the Olympic venue, shall not
utter dirty words, nor shall they insult or swear discriminative
ly at athletes,
coaches, referees, or foreign visitors. All sorts of racially discriminative
behaviors are strictly prohibited.
10. Keep quiet during ball serving or start
calling
Please keep quiet while a ball is to be served or a start calling is given.
The ball serving games are table tennis, badminton, tennis, etc.; the start
calling games are swimming, track & field, etc. In addition, at some games
such as football and basketball whereby a whistle is used, any instrument which
can make similar sound is forbidden.
11. Do not use flash while taking photos
indoors
During most indoor games, the spectators may take photos without flash when
athletes look up. It has become a strict rule in games such as table tennis,
badminton, tennis, gymnastics, diving, boxing, judo, wrestling, taekwondo,
fencing, etc.
12. Turn off the cellphone ring at indoor
games
Some games such as shooting, tennis, etc. require absolute quietness; the
spectator shall turn off his/her cellphone ring or change it to vibration.
13. Leave at an appropriate time during tennis
games
The spectator is not allowed to leave any time at his/her will. Tennis is a
noble sport with strict requirements for etiquette. If an audience needs to
temporarily leave the scene, the spectator must wait until the end of the 3rd,
5th or 7th round, or the intermission after each round.
14. Keep your parasol folded at outdoors
events
People enjoy sunshine at beach volleyball games. While watching such
outdoor games such as beach volleyball, tennis, football, rowing and rafting,
you need some protective instruments such as hats, sun glasses. You may also
bring in drinks. Don't forget your parasol while leaving.
15. Refrain from screaming at equestrian
games
Equestrian competition is a noble game. It is the only game that involves
both man and animal. While watching such games, including horse racing, the
spectator is requested to cooperate with equestrians and horses, refraining from
throwing in anything that may harm the horse or the equestrian. Refrain from
face-to-face flashing while taking photos. Refrain from waving flags or
ornaments, screaming aloud, leaning against the fence or straddling on it, and
from getting close to or touching the horse.
16. Take the designated lane and enter the
designated area
There are clearly marked passages for spectators to enter or exit. In fact,
the spectators, reporters, athletes or the distinguished guests each have their
own designated passages. You shall not enter reserved areas in order to seek an
athlete's signature. Keep your foot off restricted areas when watching shooting
or archery. In road games such as marathon, walking race or triathlon, please do
not cross the lane or try to touch competitors in action.
17. No smoking or littering
No smoking is allowed in the venue except designated smoking areas, nor are
snacks allowed in many games. Please obey these rules. At games demanding
quietness, please do not chew foods that make loud noise. Do not litter.
18. Leave in orderly way while games are
over
At the end of the games you are advised to applaud to athletes, and leave
from the nearest exit or just follow the crowd. Please do not leave at will in
the middle of the game. If you have to leave, walk away as quickly and quietly
as possible.
