Min Opera, Puxian-Xi, Liyuan-Xi, Gaojia-Xi and Opera constitute the five major local operas in Fujjan. Moreover, there are over 20 minor kinds of operatic folk shows throughout the province.

Fujian has 93 art ensembles, 81 theatres, 81 museums, 10 art galleries, 80 cultural halls, 82 libraries, 13 TV networks, nine radio stations, 49 newspapers, and 134 kinds of magazines.
There are about 15,000 gymnasiums and stadiums. The Fujian Provincial Sports Center can accommodate 30,000 people. The design of Xiamen Sports Center is based on the model of Beijing Olympic Center. From 1985 to 2000 athletes of the province won 85 and 345 gold medals in the international and national sporting events respec-tively.
