A
nine-year compulsory education program is carried out in Fujian. There are
30 institutions of higher education, 2,827 high schools of various kinds,
and 14,355 primary schools with total enrollment of 6.39 million. |
| Seven
hi-tech development zones---two at national level and five at provincial
level, and one national Software development area have been set up in
Fujian. In addition, there are 530 research institutes of all types and
425 hi ¨Ctech enterprises. Several thousand patent rights have been
registered in the province. |
