| Since
the reform and opening up drive was initiated twenty years ago, Fujian has
witnessed rapid economic development .In the year 2000 its GDP reached RMB
392 billion, a growth tare of 9.5% over the previous year. The ranking
position in China was improved from 22nd in 1978to 11th
terms of overall. economic strength, and from 24th in 1978to 6th
in 2000regarding per capita GDP. |

Fujian
has set up economic and trade links with over 170 countries and regions.
Total trade volume hit USD 21.2 billion in 2000. Over the past twenty
years a total number of 27,000 foreign-funded enterprises were approved
for establishment with contractual foreign investment worth USD 63.9
billion, of which USD 34 billion had been actually used. |
